How to use Acyclovir Sodium Vial

This medication is given by injection into a vein as directed by your doctor, usually every 8 hours. It should be injected slowly over 1 hour. Do not inject rapidly. Start this medication as soon as signs or symptoms of a herpes infection occur. The dosage is based on your medical condition, weight, and response to treatment.

If you are giving this medication to yourself at home, learn all preparation and usage instruction from your health care professional. This medication works best when the amount of medicine in your body is kept at a constant level. Use this drug at evenly spaced intervals.

What Drugs, Substances, or Supplements Interact with Zovirax Injection?

Zovirax may interact with tizanidine, probenecid, or drugs affecting the kidneys (e.g., amphotericin B, cisplatin, and aminoglycosides such as gentamicin). Tell your doctor all medications you use. Zovirax will not prevent the spread of genital herpes. Avoid sexual intercourse or use a latex condom to prevent spreading the virus to others.
